Born To Be An Entrepreneur

“Luck” may be part of a direct translation of the company’s name, but Geely Automotive founder Shufu Li seems to have been born with an entrepreneurship gene. When you are born to peasants and raised in rural China, that’s pretty incredible.

An article in the Detroit Free Press by Carol Cain tells his story. "I am just the son of a Chinese peasant farmer," Li says, speaking through an interpreter. "But I understand that hard work, determination and courage in the face of enormous challenges will inevitably bring success."

His company is planning to offer a sedan for sale in the United States sometime in the future. It currently exports vehicles to Africa, the Middle East and Central and South America. They displayed one of their current cars at the Detroit Auto Show this week.

The story made me wonder: Can you be born an entrepreneur?
