The pandemic has changed consumer habits in a number of ways, including what we drink and even how much. According to the Spring 2021 National Coffee Data Trends (NCDT) survey conducted by Dig Research, COVID-19 drove record coffee consumption at home.

Good morning, Paul.
The pandemic has changed consumer habits in so many ways, from the way we dress to what we eat to, how we entertain ourselves, to how we learn, to certainly how we conduct business and even what we drink and how much.
Now look, no one is judging! Whatever vice works, to each his own or her own.
Well here’s one we can all agree on: starting our days with a good cup of coffee.
During the pandemic, it’s become even more popular as the morning drink of choice.
In fact, COVID-19 drove record coffee consumption while we worked from home, with 85% of those who prefer starting their days with coffee starting their day with at least one cup every morning, and with an average daily consumption at nearly two cups per capita in America.
And while other morning drink options, like tea, are growing in popularity, it’s still coffee that reigns supreme as our kick in the pants, let’s go get ‘em morning jumpstarter.
More Americans, nearly 60%, choose coffee each day than any other beverage, including tap water, according to the spring 2021 National Coffee Data Trends survey, just conducted and released by Dig Research and the National Coffee Association.
And even though most Americans drink their coffee black, more than 40% of Americans bought types of coffee they had never tried before during the pandemic and nearly one third tried to replicate their fancy morning coffee beverages typically purchased at their favorite shops.
One quarter of Americans purchased new coffee brands and nearly one quarter purchased a new home coffee machine.
We are serious about our coffee and while Americans love their coffee at home, about 35% of Americans say they miss getting their coffee from their favorite coffee shops, where it’s professionally brewed.
And the good news for those coffee shops who are eager to welcome back their customers, well nearly half of Americans are already either returning or plan to return within the next month.
Look, business owners and entrepreneurs are always looking for an edge, Paul. So, to make sure you’re at your best, grab a good hot cup of Joe to help you finish this week strong.
