Good morning, Paul!
Yesterday on the Beat we reported on the most trafficked websites during the past year. Today, we take a closer look at app downloads as a measure of what the hottest apps are these days. And here we go, coming in at No. 3 overall it’s Facebook, No. 2, Instagram, and coming in at the most downloaded app in the United States over the last year, TikTok.
By category, hottest games are among us, Project Makeover and Roadblocks at No. 1. For entertainment apps, it’s Disney Plus at No. 3, then Netflix, and at No. 1, HBO Max. For shopping, the app known as Shop, then at No. 2, Shine. And finally, of course, at No. 1 it’s Amazon. For social networking, Snapchat, Instagram at No. 2, and at No. 1 again, TikTok. Other top apps by category: Uber at No. 1 for travel, Door Dash, No. 1 for food delivery, Tinder for dating and Spotify for music.
So, there you have it, Paul. With the billions of apps out there, these are the big winners amongst us consumers over the past year.
I’m Jeff Sloan, founder and CEO of startupnation.com, and that’s today’s Business Beat on the Great Voice of the Great Lakes, WJR.
