5 Great Part-Time Work from Home Jobs

Working from home is the dream for many people. You can spend more time with your family, do things that interest you, and make your own schedule, all while making money from the comfort of your own home.

There are many options for remote jobs in 2023. Here are five ideas to get you started.

Freelance Writer

If you’re a writer, freelance writing is a great way to make money from home. If you have good grammar, spelling and punctuation skills along with the ability to write quickly and accurately, this could especially be the perfect job for you.

\Many different online publications accept content from freelance writers, including blogs, magazines, newsletters, and news websites. You decide if you want to be paid per article or per word, since the pay rates will vary.

Virtual Assistant

Virtual assistants are the go-to for taking care of administrative tasks and other general work from home jobs. The job typically involves managing someone’s schedule, answering emails, running errands and making sure everything is in order.

You’ll need to have excellent communication skills, as well as be familiar with technology. Effectively communicating on behalf of your business (or the employees you work with) is the main responsibility of this role.

Tax Preparer

Working remotely as a tax preparer typically requires software that is easy to learn and use, making it an ideal job for those who are new to the field. Tax professionals can also earn certifications in tax preparation and become more marketable when they’re looking for work; however, with the seasonal nature of tax season, many tax positions are also available that do not require much experience at all. In fact, Intuit is currently recruiting for several virtual tax preparer roles on their website.

Tax preparers will be tasked with analyzing the financial and tax documents of clients, offering tax strategies, and making an overall assessment of someone’s financial situation to help them navigate tax season. Although there are some complexities involved with this role, especially with understanding tax language, Intuit’s jobs offer training in new tax software to keep you up to speed on the job.

Remote Computer Technician

Remote computer technicians are able to work from anywhere and set their own hours, making it the perfect job for those who want to work from home. Remote computer technicians can help people with technical issues, either by fixing them over the phone or through remote access (which means you’ll be controlling someone else’s computer).

If you’re interested in becoming a remote computer technician, there are some things that will help:

  • You must have experience with computers. This may seem obvious, but it’s important to know that this isn’t just any job where anyone can walk in with minimal knowledge and get things done; if anything goes wrong while doing your duties as a tech support rep for example, then there could be serious consequences for both parties involved (you won’t want your client losing any important information because of something silly like poor connectivity).
  • Make sure before applying that not only do you know what is going on internally within computers, but also how each piece works together to avoid unexpected technical issues.

Online Teacher

Teaching online is a great way to earn extra money without having to commute into a real classroom. Depending on your education and experience level, you can teach a range of subjects. Many online teaching jobs will allow you to choose your own schedule and work as much or as little as you want.

Even if you’re not an expert in a certain subject, having a baseline knowledge of what you’re teaching can be enough — as long as you’re able to accurately convey the subject matter to your students and can answer questions as well. At certain schools, you may be able to earn bonuses by recruiting other teachers to join the online classroom.

The SuN Takeaway

There are many opportunities for people to work from home, especially since remote work became a part of our everyday lives in the years since the pandemic. Since these jobs can be done from anywhere, you can work at home but also change up the vibe and work at a coffee shop or library if you want to mix up the scenery. The flexibility of remote work creates a less stressful work environment too, since they tend to allow you to work at your own pace and set your own schedule.
