Congratulations to EnCore Cares, located in Brandon, Florida, for being named in the Top 100 for 2014 Home-Based 100 Business Winners and in the Top 10 of the Recession Busters and Most Innovative Categories. We caught up with business owner and entrepreneur Darla Babineaux and asked her to answer some questions and share some words of advice and inspiration with our StartupNation audience. Darla starts by telling us that as a 55 year old woman, no one seemed to want to hire her. Darla felt that her worth was not being recognized and that she still has a lot to offer to people and her community, and she does!

StartupNation: What is your favorite aspect of being an entrepreneur?
Darla: Being in a position to give back and impact others’ lives, positively. Being in a position to always do what’s right and what is expected. No games.
StartupNation: To what do you attribute your success as an entrepreneur and business owner?
Darla: Never giving up on My faith and the attributes (leadership, The attributes God blessed me with creativity, the ability to troubleshoot, excellent work ethic, and my desire to lead others by example.
StartupNation: What ignited the spark in you to start/select your particular business as an entrepreneur?
Darla: I felt that it was idea that would allow me to help others while I helped myself too.
StartupNation: What would you say are the top three skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur?
Darla:
- Organizational skills

- Ability to continually forecast and keep moving forward

StartupNation: If you had one piece of advice for someone just starting out, what would it be?
Darla: Pray. Never give up and be open to change and adapting.

Darla: Everything is negotiable.

Darla: A small mortgage company called Palms of Bermuda.

Darla: Lots of growth, so much so I cannot provide service to all who come to me.

Darla: The influx of growth into Florida.

Darla: Not a funny story, but advice…listen to your client or the people you serve.
