Dr. John Langmore, Ph.D, co-founder and chief scientific officer at Rubicon Genomics knows a lot more about business now than he used to. On this edition of StartupNation Radio, Jeff Sloan and Norm Pappas are joined by Rich Sloan, and the three conduct a very compelling and inspirational interview with Dr. Langmore on the science of entrepreneurship.

A brilliant scientist with the gift of bringing an idea to life, he knew very little about the business world. Dr. Langmore answers questions about how someone with a scientific background moves into the world of entrepreneurship, and what you need to do to make the same transition. There are many avenues available to the budding entrepreneur and one such resource also joined the conversation during the second half of the show.

Mark Bennett is an attorney and FINRA-registered securities professional with more than 30 years of entrepreneurial, legal and finance experience in multiple industries including real estate, IT, internet marketing, information services, business process outsourcing (BPO), clean-tech and energy. He has a long track record in structuring and executing sophisticated transactions with an emphasis on real estate and technology. Mark combines his extensive business expertise with his legal and investment banking skills to identify and realize value creation opportunities in a variety of business structures in both the private and public sectors. Mark’s experience includes company formation, strategic business planning, venture capital fundraising, industry roll-ups, mergers and acquisitions, and asset and stock dispositions.

InvestMichigan.org is one of the many resources available to entrepreneurs for seeding or pre-seed funding. Mark Bennett sits on the board of directors at this organization and provides tips on how to get an application started for your startup.
