Good morning, Paul! It’s Friday. Boy, are we happy it’s Friday and we’re heading into a holiday weekend no less. Happy Independence Day America and Happy 4th of July to all of our WJR listeners.

Now OK, this morning on the Business Beat, we’re focused on how texting has become a central if not primary way for many in business today to communicate. It used to be that email was our new go-to way to communicate, but that isn’t cool anymore. What is? Well, texting is, of course, but not just texting, Paul, texting using abbreviations. I mean, who has time in today’s breakneck speed in business to write out whole words, let alone whole sentences, right? So the solution? Texting with abbreviations. Even faster and more efficient, as long as you know what the abbreviations mean.

So this morning, Paul, we’ve picked a few out to highlight right here in order to educate our WJR business listeners. Here we go. Here’s a couple we all likely know to kick us off. OMG, LOL. That’s easy. Oh my God and laughing out loud, of course. How about IDK and JK? I don’t know. And just kidding. There’s the old HMU, which stands for hit me up, meaning contact me or get ahold of me. YW. You’re welcome. NP. No problem. BTW and LMK, by the way and let me know. And last but not least, ICYMI. That’s right, in case you missed it.

Well, there you have it, Paul, the list goes on and on, of course, but there you have it. Everything in life, especially in business, seems to be moving faster and faster these days. And now texting is no exception either. I don’t know about you, Paul, but I’m just SMH over this. I mean, OMG IDK, but IMO I just like words BTW, and ICYMI, we will post these and more on startupnation.com. YW.

I’m Jeff Sloan, founder and CEO of startupnation.com. Make it a great weekend, everybody. Enjoy the holiday. That’s today’s Business Beat on the Great Voice of the Great Lakes, WJR.
