We caught up with business owner and entrepreneur James Franklin and asked him to answer some questions and share some words of advice and inspiration with our StartupNation audience.

StartupNation: What is your favorite aspect of being an entrepreneur?
James: Being able to put forth the high level of service that I expect to the consumer.

StartupNation: To what do you attribute your success as an entrepreneur and business owner?
James: Perseverance each day.

StartupNation: What ignited the spark in you to start/select your particular business as an entrepreneur?
James: I saw the need and knew that with my love of people it could work.

StartupNation: What would you say are the top three skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur?

  • Self motivating
  • Desire to succeed
  • Being able to make a difference

Words of Wisdom – Inspiration for Aspiring Entrepreneurs

StartupNation: If you had one piece of advice for someone just starting out, what would it be?
James: You have to be self-motivating and money alone won’t keep you doing it.


StartupNation: Where do you find your greatest inspiration?
James: My parents and grandparents.

StartupNation: What is your favorite motivational/business quote as an entrepreneur?
James: You don’t have to make a million to be a success.

StartupNation: A motto you live by?
James: We can work it out.

StartupNation: How did you get funding for your startup?
James: I basically grew into the business by just doing what i could afford to do.

StartupNation: Recommendations for others starting out?
James: Savings, family, friends and saving.

Marketing and Building Their Customer Base

StartupNation: How do you market and build your customer base?
James: Google business ads, then word of mouth and forming relationships.

StartupNation: Recommendations for others starting out?
James: There’s no easy way to do it, but it is much easier when you have passion for it.

Changes in the Business Market

StartupNation: What changes have you seen in your business market since starting?
James: Lots of people come to the business then shortly fall out as fad.

StartupNation: What do you see coming that will impact your business?
James: Legislature disclosure.

StartupNation: Have a funny story about a client or business transaction that you want to share along with a key lesson learned?
James: A guy shows up with a $485.0000 and tells me he trust me and I tell him I don’t and that I cannot take one penny of cash from you.
