Welcome to the Monday Morning Memoir September 22, 2008.
I have been thinking about the organic process of product growth and brand identity. While I was working on my MBA the professors would teach that every company knew what their product and brand identity was at the startup phase of the company. What’s interesting about my experience is that understanding rarely comes to you while you are thinking and actualizing that startup phase. Yes, of course you know what your initial product or service is but don’t be married to that idea. As you get deeper into the business and particularly as you learn more about the market you may see opportunities that may be larger than your original idea. This sounds funny but it’s a ying/yang balance to execute on your original idea while investigating the new idea. I have found that by the time you understand your original product and begin making some sales the other ideas begin to blossom. Please share your experience and feedback.
