Good morning, Paul! Finding success in entrepreneurship is a tough road, as we all know, but under the current circumstances in 2022 things seem to be getting tougher by the day. Whether it’s coming off the pandemic and trying to get your feet back on the ground that’s giving you trouble or perhaps it’s inflation or supply chain issues, and the numerous other issues, small businesses are facing today. So we need all the help we can get.

One place to find it: The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, along with founding sponsor FedEx, today announced the launch of the Small Business Readiness for Resilience program. And that program is intended to provide financial assistance to small business owners impacted by a natural disaster. Now this program will distribute approximately 400 grants to eligible small businesses over the next four years. And while small businesses serve as the backbone of local economies, they’re just simply more vulnerable and more likely to fail than larger enterprises when hit by challenges like natural disasters. They’re just not as resilient. So programs like this one become incredibly important and a natural disaster on top of the havoc wreaked by the pandemic. Well, that could spell doom for many U.S. small businesses.

Rob Glenn, vice-president of global resilience at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, points out that small businesses employ nearly 50% of the U.S. workforce so this is a really important program to get behind.

“We’re proud to work with FedEx,” he says, “to help small business owners to build greater resiliency.”

If you want to get your business on the list of small businesses that could qualify to receive these grants, go to uschamberfoundation.org. Small business grants can be a lifeline that is the difference between devastating failure and survival. Be sure to make it a point to apply to this and other grant programs. We’ll do our best to keep you posted of all new programs being announced of significant relevancy to our U.S. small business owners.
