Good morning, Paul!
A shopping frenzy is at play currently, as Americans come off of lockdown and look to spend excess funds in their savings accounts. Whether funds saved from not dining out as often or not traveling or even from the stimulus checks received, Americans have pent-up demand to shop and spend, and we’re spending. In fact, nearly half of U.S. shoppers expect to spend more this summer than last year.
What is new and different about the American consumer in the post-pandemic new normal? Well, according to new findings from an Avionos report on consumer habits, 80% view trust as more important than ever in connecting them with brands and getting their spend. The digital and marketing solution provider pulled over 750 consumers to conduct their study.
Moreover, the report indicates that 99% of consumers who have established a connection to and with the brand during the pandemic because of trust and confidence they’ve established with that brand expect to keep shopping with that brand once COVID-19 is well in the rearview mirror. A press release associated with the report indicates from communications to easy transitions, consumers expect brands to deliver more than a great online experience. Moving beyond streamlined shopping and fast deliveries, retailers must focus on building trust within their consumer base by, for example, offering fair prices and delivering correct and accurate orders every time to the consumer.
One other key finding from the report: consumers are more likely — 62% of them — to trust small local businesses than national retailers when it comes to trust-building offerings, like fair prices and delivering orders on time. That’s good news for our beloved local mom and pop and independent merchants on Main Street who need our spend more than any other merchant. does
So, the bottom line, whether you’re a small business or a big one, focus on building trust and confidence by delivering a supreme and consistent consumer experience, and you’ll enjoy loyalty and repeat purchasing that will make your business sing.
