One of the initial aspects of taking that first step to start a small business is trying to determine whether your business idea will be profitable. Creating a business plan is absolutely the thing to do in order to figure this out.

An early benchmark as you begin the research to create that business plan is to ask people what they think. Now, it’s one thing to ask your Aunt Sally or the postal carrier whether your idea for a home based business will fly, but it’s quite another to ask people who have started their own businesses already.
