We all know the importance of balance in our lives. We’ve all heard about how nobody at the end of their life wished that they had worked more. (I’m not totally buying that, by the way, but that’s a whole ‘nother blog) StartupNation’s 1st step in the 10 Steps to Open For Business? Create a life plan. In other words, figure out what you want out of life and then build a business to support that plan.
Even though we know all this stuff, I am here to admit that I forget. Regularly. So here’s an email that I received recently from my 9-year old nephew Jacob that helped to snap me out of it.
Hi Uncle Joel!!
It’s me, Jacob. Just to let you know, I went to a Barnstormer’s game which is baseball team, and I saw some of my cubscout pack members there. ( I went with my dad ) It was a special night for cubscouts cuz they got to see the game, and it was a night of recognizing the scouts. We got to sleep over at the stadium in the outfield in a tent!!!!!!!!!!! And we got to see a movie called "National Treasure" after the game was over. They showed the movie in the baseball stadium!!!
Now, back to the game. The Barnstormer’s were against the River Sharks ( from Jersey ). The River Sharks were the first ones to get a run in the 4th inning. The Barnstormer’s made a GREAT comeback. They got 3 home runs. The score at the end was Barnstormer’s 5, Riversharks 2. By the way, I was cheering for the Barnstormers. Before the game started, it was POURING rain!! The night before the game, I prayed that the game would not be cancelled. And it wasn’t, HURRAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But when the rain stopped, my pants were soaked. Oh well, it didn’t ruin the game for me.
I can’t wait to see you at your wedding.
Love,
Jacob
P.S. Barnstormers Rule!!
Being an entrepreneur means many things. And one of them is creating the freedom & flexibility to make what’s really important rise to the top of our priorities. Thanks Jacob.
