We have our WJR Business Beat with Jeff Sloan, founder and CEO of StartupNation, spotlighting the entrepreneurial, tech and startup community here on WJR every morning at this time. And we appreciate that. And here’s kind of a follow-up to yesterday’s conversation with some marketing ideas for small businesses.
Good morning, Jeff.
Good morning, Paul.
Well, yesterday morning we cited a new study that revealed that customer engagement is the biggest challenge for small business owners today, according to a study just released, that is getting their customer’s attention and getting them to spend money with them.
Today, following on yesterday’s feature, we’re focused on results just released from a new study by the B2B site, known as Manifest, which reveal which marketing tactics small business owners are using most today to try to reach and engage their customers.
So here we go. Heading up the list at number one, social media marketing. Eighty eight percent of the 500 or so small business owners surveyed in the study indicate they rely heavily on social media marketing.
Number two: 56 percent plan to increase their website marketing.
Number three, 54 percent plan to increase their email marketing, and at number four, 32 percent plan to increase video marketing.
Now these tactics are all part of online digital marketing, but surprisingly, 63 percent of small business owners surveyed indicate they still rely on traditional marketing methods like print.
So, if you, like the rest of us, are a small business owner chasing customer engagement, hopefully this helps shed some light on what others are doing so that you can help frame out what you should be doing in order to get that all-important customer engagement resulting in spend with your business.
